I use and love (since 1997) Slackware, stay away from it, it is not
one of the "windows wannabees." It is the most like the original UNIX
as one can get.
If you like being required to reboot with no real reason try:
Ubuntu, Kbuntu or one of their other sisters. Get the youngest long
term maintenance version.
