If I run a CAT 5/6E cable from one of the ports on my home wireless router outto an out building on my property, can I just put another Linksys wireless router on the end of it and expect to see the signal or am I missing something here?

Are you wanting to use more than one computer in the out building?
We also need to know the distance that the cat5e is going to have to run.
If you don't use the wireless on the existing router, you could use it
as an AP and then get a router that can be set up to link to it sort of
like a repeater. Than you wouldn't have to run a cat5e cable to the
outbuilding.
Of course this all depends on how far out the building is.
