[Ham-Computers] File problem with IE8

Yes, I'm using XP. Sorry that I forgot to state that.
In the Control Panel, opening Folder Options brings up a window with a File
Types tab. Clicking that brings up the list of file types. Selecting .DOC
or .XLS and clicking the Advanced button does bring up a display showing a
choice named "Browse in same window" with a check box that was checked.
Unchecking the check box and then clicking on an .XLS file in the Files section
of one of my Yahoo groups displays the data in a different window (so you
don't have to use the BACK button to get back to the file list. But IE8 is
still doing the display, not Excel (or Word for .DOC). And for PDF, the
"Browse in same window" line is grayed out.
