[Ham-Computers] Anti Virus - the age-old debate

Sorry for bringing this up once again, but I'm looking for input
about what are better free anti virus programs.

What prompted this is the inability of MSE and Malwarebytes to work
and play well together. With a paid subscription to Malwarebytes on my
PC, MSE refuses to run for any length of time. This is confirmed by the
MSE support website listing Malwarebytes as being incompatible with MSE.

Unfortunately, I believe Malwarebytes to be one of the best
anti-_malware_ programs available, and am unwilling to part with it. It
has prevented several external attacks on my computer. it isn't,
however, anti-_virus_.

I'm therefore left with the alternative of replacing my anti-virus
software. I preferred MSE (recommended by many hams) due to its' small
footprint and the fact that it seemed to work very well.

What other alternatives are worth pursuing?

Thanks!
