I use Firefox with Cookie Monster, Noscript, Ghostery, and Adblock on 
Win XP, Win 7 and linux machines with confidence.

You can set Ghostery to block web cookies and trackers.  Noscript and 
Cookie Monster can set javascript and cookies on a per-site basis. 
Cookie Monster will allow you to accept only session cookies.  Firefox 
can be set to forget EVERYTHING when you close it.

Try them and let me know how you make out.
