usb video adapters are made.
They are a compromise, as I understand it.

Have you tried one of those dual-deck vhs to dvd machines?  They're 
cheap and available everywhere.

if you're using linux, Devede is my choice to convert anything to a 
ready-to-burn DVD.

Regardless, it would still be good to check the solution against your OS 
in a search engine, just in case.  I have an audio to usb convertor that 
*should* be os-independent but flat out refuses to work in linux.
