[Ham-Computers] Need hint about IE8 Toolbar Problem

As I mentioned previously, I have Registry Mechanic by PC Tools and have
been using it for several years. I've tried a couple of others, including
RegCure, but couldn't see that they worked any better.
On IE9, I had assumed for whatever reason that it went with Vista or
Windows 7 and wasn't backwards compatible. In part because Windows Update (which
runs in Download then Ask mode) hasn't done so. I take it that isn't the
case?
