Sorry for the delayed reply, was out all day today.

One reason to partition is to keep the OS and closely
associate apps one place and data elsewhere reduces
clutter when looking for stuff.

Doing regular backups is important no matter what -
which reminds me ...

Puppy has a thing called a Personal Storage File
and you can adjust the size - but I prefer to store
a lot of things outside of that on a separate partition
because it doesn't like to get too big for some reason.

Right now I'd just use it the way you have it, do
regular backups, and get comfortable.

Also, get on the http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/
forum as the developers and users alike hang out
there and are very helpful.
