Not entirely true.
All of the netbooks I've seen run programs locally, whether linux or 
Windows (XP or 7).  I believe you're referring to the units with some 
sort of `cloud' OS.

I like the Ubuntu netbook remix.  I have a machine with it next to me 
now.  There isn't a netbook made that should have 7 on it but they 
stopped selling XP so you're stuck.

I have a bunch of them.  They work beautifully.

I use W7 only in a virtual machine, run under linux.
