any version of XP will allow you to `refresh' your XP install, although 
a fresh install is always better.  When doing a refresh, ignore the 
first repair opportunity and take the second, which does an install 
in-place.  Your data and apps will all be there.  Unfortunately so will 
the crap that builds up in Windows over time.

ALWAYS back up first.
