   No.
   The HP-4P requires a cartridge to print postscript files without
a converter.  I have a HP-4P.
   In LINUX I use ghostview (gv) to convert anything printed
(all normal LINUX programs output postscript data) into the kind of data 
the printer can use.  (the native printer language)
