Our son's HP Omnibook laptop is showing signs of a LCD
failure of some sort.
He gets vertical lines but nothing readable.
When I connect it to the projector he gets a fine display,
so it isn't the motherboard/video circuitry.
Just before the vertical lines are displayed the whole LCD
lights-up to a dim white then it all fades down to the lower
left corner.
Where is the first place to look for this kind of LCD
problem, please?
Could it be the power supply to the LCD?
A loose cable?
Or is this typical of a catastrophic failure of the LCD
which is not worth trying to fix?
