[Ham-Computers] Floppy problem

I have a problem that I have never seen before and need help to resolve:
I recently installed a computer on the garage workbench so I could access
files and email on the 'main' ham shack computer.
Both computers are networked using a Linksys router and work as they should,
with the exception listed below.
I have a cable modem (Tampabay Road Runner).
The problem:
When I click on the floppy drive icon on either computer, the computers will
reboot.
(This does not happen in safe mode and the ham shack computer did not have
this problem before the garage computer was installed on the network).
I have tried using selective startup (msconfig), removing the floppy disk
controller, reset the cable modem and router and searched the net for a
solution with no avail.
I have connected each computer directly to the cable modem (without the
router) and problem still exists.
I have run a virus check on both machines and nothing showed up.
Because the problem showed up on the shack computer, I believe the 'problem'
was transmitted via the network and it acts like it IS a virus or worm. . .
.
Any help/ideas will be appreciated!
TIA
