Hello again to the List,

I have gotten several inquiries about the solution to the problem I
posted earlier about hyperlinking with Excel.

The problem was: I keep my ham logbook on the computer in an Excel
spreadsheet. I wanted to be able to click on the cell that contains
the callsign, and have the QRZ window pop up with the information
about that callsign.

Jay, AD5PE, came up with the solution...

1 - Create a new column to the right of the callsign column.
2 - In the cells of this new column, enter the following:
=HYPERLINK("http://www.qrz.com/" &<cell to the left of this one>).

<cell to the left of this one> means the column and row number of the
cell containing the actual callsign.

For example if my callsign column is column D, then I would insert a
new column E. I would enter =HYPERLINK("http://www.qrz.com/" &D2) in
cell E2. Next, fill down column E with the contents of E2. Now if
you click on E2, you will be taken to the QRZ.com page for the
callsign in column D2.

I found that this does not work with Excel 97, so you will need a more
recent version of Excel if you want to do this. It does work with
Open Office Calc, the spreadsheet used by Open Office.

My thanks again to Jay, AD5PE, for providing such an elegant solution
to this problem.
