The do make a special USB to USB transfer cable to transfer files. Do not 
use a regular usb to usb cable or you will burn up the ports and damage the 
pc. I would buy a USB cable that plugs into the HD making it an external HD. 
There's several different brands, styles and sources including 
www.tigerdirect.com for $20-30.
