Fellows,

I received a small avalanche of offers and suggestions from list members for
which I am deeply grateful!
One member sent me a copy of WinME and a copy of Win2000. I installed the
WinME but my drives, DVD and 3 1/2"
floppy still will not record. They read ok but no record! I then installed
Win2000 and same results so I suspect the
drivers software is corrupted.
One member offered to send me a copy of XP and I asked him to hold off on
the offer but he mailed it anyway!
This machine may not accept all of the XP program!
Another member gave me the address of "DELL RECOVERY" and I sent a request
to them. This is part of their reply:

"A CD for Windows ME operating system cannot be sent as it is not available
anymore. Windows ME being an end
life Operating System.
You msy use the serial # (Five groups of five characters each) for Windows
ME".

I have no idea what that means saying I may use that group.
It appears that this Senior, Senior Citizen is out-dated!
My next move is to try to subscribe to a different ISP, like maybe MSN and
see if the Win2000 will perform ok.
As it stands, the opening screen gives me a choice, either Win 2000 or Win
ME. By selecting Win ME, I get back to
where I was, with Email facility, etc. Selecting Win 2000 gives me the
opening screen but no connection to my
present ISP. Oh me!, let me go back about 70 years when I was young and
handsome! Hi!

Many hearfelt thanks to all who responded to my plea. I'm keeping all the
responses still on this "confuser" for
possible future communications.
Take care,

Ken N5CM
