[Ham-Computers] Network/Virus problem?

Hi Gene
Now that your computer is running ok, think of using an application that
makes an image of your C drive. I used Norton Ghost for years, but have
switched to Terabyte Image for DOS, which I purchased as a package
(Image for Windows, Image for DOS, and another application. I
partitioned my hard drive with separate partitions for normal C drive
stuff, a second (extended) drive for data, a third for emails, a fourth
for photos, and a fifth for backup images. When things start acting
up, I use Terabyte to restore my C drive. While I have not had anything
as spectacular as your wall to wall smut, my problems have been equally
exasperating, and restoring to an image is much easier than
troubleshooting. Putting images on a separate drive is a better choice,
and I'm going to try an external drive when I return from my trip.
There are a few tricks, which I'll pass along should you decide to try
this route.
