I run a commercial acccounting package (SBT-7) for our personal finances as
well as keeping up with my radio collection and any sales. The code (but hot
the underlying dBase) has been extensively modified to cater to military radio
nomenclature, TM's and etc. but that has nothing to do with my problem. The
database engine is dBase 5 (for DOS) (I own both the 16 bit and 32 bit versions
of dBase but have never gotten around to doing the conversion). The DOS
verson ran fine under Windows 3.11 and NT 4.0. It runs fine under Windows 2000 as
well except that it currently pushes the CPU utilization to an average 24%.
I have one XP machine here and on it the utilazation is around 48% sometimes
hitting 50%. The name of the program that is using that much is NTVDM.EXE.
Anyone have any suggestions as to how to reduce this? I have the shortcut
set up to run a modified version of AUTOEXEC.NT and CONFIG.NT.
