Ken,

Unless I am not understanding what you are actually asking, yes. Just use 
the "pause" button to stop it and then press the "play" button to resume 
playing the CD.

You can also use the "skip ahead" and "skip back" buttons, (I may not have 
the exact name correct), to move ahead one chapter or back one chapter. Just 
as a music CD does. You can also scan ahead and back too.

Sorry if I am answering the wrong question OM.
