[Ham-Computers] windows copies

 A friend of mine bought a computer a while back. It had win XP.  he had a 
problem with the computer down the line. When he brought it in to be 
repaired he neglected to bring his original installation disc. It was 
returned with the repairers copy installed. Can he give his original copy to 
someone else to use?
 Can he install his own copy back into the machine?
