Haven't heard about this.
I'd try uninstalling then reinstalling if you haven't already.

Is the other browser necessary at all?  If it's the culprit, perhaps
getting rid of it will help.

You can run troublesome or potentially dangerous apps in SandboxIE or a
virtual machine to keep them from eating your system.  It's especially
good for IE.
