[Ham-Computers] ATT-Yahoo Online Security, I don't recommend it

Hi All,
For about two years now I've been running the Zonelabs Security Suite, the
Do-All program (virus scanner, anti-spy, popup blocker etc). It worked
flawlessly for two years! A couple weeks ago the program came up for
renewal and I decided to "save a few bucks". My ISP, ATT-Yahoo provides an
on-line Security Suite as part of my package, so I installed it. This is
produced for them by Norton and is basically the Norton Anti-Virus, Spyware
package with Live Update.

Anyway, it seemed to run fine for about two weeks, then a couple days ago
started to do some very strange things. It'd give me a notice that a scan
was due (I had it set for automatic scanning). I'd click on the scan button
and nothing would happen, I'd still have the "error" in the task bar. Then
yesterday I started getting error pop-ups telling me that a delayed disk
write from Norton had failed. These happened as fast as I'd click the
balloon to close the notice. Norton was the ONLY program having a problem
writing to the disk.

Anyway, to make a long story short, I totally removed the ATT-Yahoo online
Security package to load the Free Avast Virus Scanner for the time being.
I've used it before and liked it (and it also resides on my Wife's machine).

After I removed Norton from my machine I could NOT open any of my DOS
programs, including the Log-EQF program I use for beacon logging. The error
said that some needed files to run DOS were missing/corrupted!

At this point I decided that the ONLY recourse I had to make sure the system
was "right" was to totally reload the entire C drive, copying it from a
back-up drive that I have for just this purpose (and which I update every so
often). After doing that my system was back to where I was before I loaded
the ATT-Yahoo fiasco, working just fine. I then updated my various radio
logs and email from the "D" drive that I had copied the info to BEFORE
re-cloning the C drive.
