More casualties of the upgrade - the software wasn't able to find the Seiko
label printer on the serial port. So on a Sunday morning (which didn't give me
a lot of options) I had to buy another printer.
Seiko Smart Label Printer Pro $35.00 With labels.
This is a serial interface thermal printer. Will handle up to 2" wide
labels, although I only ever used it for 1-1/8" x 3-1/2" address labels. In
original box with wall wart, serial cable (both 9 and 25 pin connectors), original
docs, CD with current version software (2000 and later) and the version about 2
years back (which I was using) that runs with 95, 98, NT4 and 2000. Includes
a full case (twelve rolls each of 130 labels) of mailing labels, current
commercial (not consumer) cost about $70.00.
I liked this printer. It's the third of this family I have owned in the past
decade. The software is simple to use. I often used it as a small pop-up
notepad substitute to transfer addresses from emails into my accounting
database, our auction management database or our postage printing software. It worked
a bunch better than its Brother replacement. But I only had about a two hour
window Sunday morning in which to buy a printer that would work with the new
system board. And there weren't a lot of places open the Sunday before
Memorial Day.
