[Ham-Computers] Items in Desktop Folder not seen on Desktop

I tried removing Explorer Plus from the desktop folder then adding it
again, but the problem is still there. I also tried the auto arrange
option (by name) in case Explorer Plus had slid off. The icons were
arranged in two columns on the left side, but no Explorer Plus
I tried right clicking on the desktop "folder" and selecting
Properties, but the same menus appear as seen when clicking on a
blank area on the desktop.
For those who have not tried it, right-click anywhere on a blank area
on the desktop and select Arrange Icons By. Options for arranging
the desktop are seen. The choice seems to be a one-shot; if you
manually rearrange the icons, they remain where you positioned them
when the computer is restarted.
Cleaning the desktop is another situation. Access by right clicking
the desktop again, select Properties, Desktop, Customize
Desktop. Checking the box causes the desktop to be cleaned
periodically until you uncheck the box.
