Ahhh yes...the autocomplete has caused me much grief a times, esp if you've changed the addressbook/contact list entry as the autocomplete then fills in the old address!

The autocomplete list is stored in a .NK2 file in the Outlook folder in your profile. Close Outlook and then go here:

c:\documents and settings\profilename\Aapplication Data\Microsoft\Outlook

You'll find a .NK2 file for each Outlook profile. Delete the appropriate .NK2 file and the autocomplete list will be recreated the next time Outlook starts. Sorry, don't know of any way to edit the entries, but there are probably 3rd party tools out there that might allow you to edit the NK2 file.

BTW, this is for the full version of Outlook...not sure if it applies to Outlook Express.

Subject: RE: [Ham-Computers] RE: SCANPST

This is somewhat related to compacting the PST file.

Someplace it is vast archives of "stuff", Outlook must store every e-mail address that it ever had any contact with. I know that I have my address book, and can get info from it. But there must be a "hidden" address book with 1000's and 1000's of e-mail addresses that I really would like to get rid of. I know they are there someplace, as Outlook will automatically complete the addresses, even though they are not in my address book.

Any one know where to find this "hidden" address book, and how to thin
it out?

Thanks.
