Dave,
I don't know how old your PC is but barebones systems are so cheap that its
hardly worth messing with a Gateway which is proprietory. JMHO.

Think I know the answer to this already, but here goes.
Have a Gateway PC that I thought I could add a second SATA hard drive
to. That is, until I actually GOT the second drive and realized that while I
had the necessary power connections, I seem to be lacking the required DATA
connection! I'm used to IDE drives, with dual connectors for the drives! Now
what I have is a data cable going from the motherboard directly to the
master hard drive. No dual connectors. No second drive.
What options, if any, do I have? I see plenty of PCI SATA controller
cards available, but I have no more PCI slots open in this PC. There is a
small connector I've never seen before that is available for a plug-in card,
but it is much smaller than a PCI slot, and it's definitely not the for the
AGP video card.
Yes, I know I should have checked more carefully. I've learned my
lesson and it will never, never happen again. But for now I need a bit of
help to be able to add this drive to my PC.
Ideas? Suggestions? Anything at all other than being sent to the home
for the terminally technologically impaired?
Tnx es 73
Dave
