OK people, no need to get huffy over terminology. I posted my message
at 3:00am in the morning - while packing and getting ready for a trip
here (Hong Kong). I know the proper term isn't "physical" partition,
but I couldn't think of the proper term at the time. What I did
remember off the top of my head was that the partition table only allows
4 partition entries. One partition type, the "extended" partition,
allows further "logical" partitions to be created. This is why I might
have incorrectly used the term "physical" as it is a differentiator from
"logical" partitions. I knew I couldn't use "primary" as "primary"
defines a partition type, just like "extended". I always try my best to
make sure I explain things clearly, but sometimes a word or two escapes
me (and sometimes it's more than a word!).
Anyways, I think I got the point across and appreciate Dale for the
clarification.
And now, back to our regular programming.
