[Ham-Computers] Does Vista read NTFS drives?

Yes, Vista uses NTFS just like XP, 2K, and NT. But what I've found is that most "power users" are buying systems with Vista and then re-installing XP on it (after buying an XP license). A typical user buying all new equipment might not notice, but there are many apps and devices that aren't supported in Vista. Most vendors have XP drivers available for download, in case you decide to "downgrade" - it might actually be harder finding Vista updates for your existing hardware/software!

Subject: [Ham-Computers] Does Vista read NTFS drives?

Hi all,

'If and when' I'm eventually able to get a new laptop, it will almost certainly have Vista on it, whether I want it or not. My external drive is formatted with "NTFS", is there likely to be a problem here? NO, I'd rather not have to get a Vista machine, but they all seem to be going that way now, certainly by the time I can get one. And since the proprietary "laptop specific" software is usually specific to that machine, I wouldn't want to reformat and put XP on it.
