[Ham-Computers] qsl net

Mike,

This may be due to spam attacks on the system. A T1 line can get a lot of
mail in a single minute! The tremendous volume causes most systems to crash,
but if memory serves, Al has a provision to cause QTH.NET/QSL.NET to go into
a protective mode to prevent an actual crash. For reasons of security, I can
not say anymore than this Mike.

It is also possible that he is updating software, upgrading and fine tuning
security systems, replacing failing hard drives and other maintenance. He
has twenty-nine servers and these systems run 24/7/365.26! Hence, they do
wear out much quicker than anything most of us use.

The complexity of Al's "hobby" is not exactly what he had in mind when he
first built it for the Hams in Delaware eleven years ago! As his lovely wife
puts it, "Al's hobby gone out of control!"
