[Ham-Computers] CD-R labeling, best way?

Hi All,

Yes, I know this is really music related, not computer data, but the same
question could be posed for data disks.

I'm still working on transferring all my music from cassette tape, some
vinyl etc to CD format. FIRST, I'm just recording everything, song by song
to Wave format then "cleaning them up" with Audacity, a VERY good audio
tool. AFTER I have everything into .wav format THEN I'll start dubbing them
to CD's (though I've already completed my Vocal backup tracks into CD format
so I could use them).

ANYWAY, the question here is, what is the BEST way to neatly label the CD's,
at LEAST the ones that I want to keep for my masters? Traditionally I've
just scribbled on them with a felt tip, not very neat. But I'd like to get
one of the CD labeling kits that are available and make nice labels for them
and I don't want to waste money getting the wrong labeling kit 8^( So what
are some of the better ways to go about this?

By the way, right now Staples has a great buy on Hewlet Packard 100 spindle
pack 52x CD-R's at just under 18.00. Much better quality than the generic
ones I last bought, which look like a mirror on BOTH sides. Until you wrote
to them you really couldn't tell which was the "writable" side. I use them
for my "Throw-a-way" temporary backups etc. But I have never had a failure
with one of them and they've been used at the shop to "test" CD's when
working on stereo gear etc.
