Has anything has changed lately?  Did you load new software or hardware?
Have you messed with the BIOS?

The BIOS might be a good place to look also.  Since there are so many of
them, it's difficult to say exactly where to look, but there will be
some sort of Parallel Port setting.  Make sure it's not set to OFF or
disabled in any way.  If it's on, make a note of the setting and compare
it to what Windows says.

If Win says you have one, try deleting it and rebooting, allowing it to
`find' the port again.

Check hardware to see if there are any exclamation points or problems
with the port.  Run the troubleshooter.
