[Ham-Computers] Router Question

I have an older non-wireless Linksys router. Routers also have an
internal firewall (hardware firewall; security suites have software
firewalls) which gives an added layer of protection against the bad
guys. I've had the reset problem occasionally; maybe it is a heat
problem as another poster mentioned.

If you buy a router over eBay or from an individual, be sure to get
the installation CD. IP addresses need to be set up, which is done
easily using the CD. Don't know about the new plug and play routers
- maybe it is not important with these items. Maybe somebody else
could comment on this point.

Should you ever get a new modem, they often come with a
firewall. Problems occur, because the normal router setup will
result in the same IP address at the router input and output and the
router won't work properly, if at all. This can be a real "head scratcher".
