There is a world of difference between a simple 'screen reading' program and a
user interactive screen reading program.
What MS has is not a joke, it was licensed from henter Joyce Inc. in FL and is
the TTS engine meant for third party developers.
The software I use is by Freedom Scientific Inc. (merger of Henter-Joyce +
Arkenstone + Blaze Engineering) and is known as JFW (JAWS For Windows, the
"JAWS" meaning Job Access With Speech. it retails for $795
Then you need a speech synthesizer, hardware, another $400-$1000, depending on
how robotic and limited the synthesizer is. And more -
Please send your specific questions to me direct and I will be glad to answer
them. I have no financial interest in any of the developers or their products,
nor am I a dealer. My involvement was in 1980 with TI who developed TTS, Text To
Speech.
