is your virus protection up to date?  If not, go right out and update
it.  There are a few viruses floating around that will do this.  If you
can get to Google, do a search for online virus scanning - there are
some that will be blocked by a virus, but others will get through.

do a search on your hard drive for the file `hosts' (in W2k and XP it's
in [Windows]\system32\drivers\etc).  Open it with Notepad.  There will
be some commented text and an entry at the bottom that looks like
127.0.0.1  localhost    - if there are many more entries with antivirus
themes, you're infected.

In any case, scan the entire box for viruses.
You can try installing a different browser too (I like Opera).
