Greetings to the list.

On behalf of a friend (not a ham....YET hi hi ;-)) I need to know what
alternatives to Windows there is for the following PC.

Dell Optiplex GN+ 5200. 200 MHz Pentium, 32 MB ram, upgrading to at least 64
in a couple of days. Typical usage is "routine" websurfing including going to
sites that run Java and/or Flash games. (That run ok now on the above machine)
email, and viewing "standard" files (JPG, DOC, MP3/WMA, PDF, WPD, etc) The
ability to write/rewrite CDs is a must.

I'm thinking Mandrake, Damn Small Linux (sorry for the "cuss" word) Red Hat,
or Linspire (aka Lindows) Cost is not really too big of a concern, as long as
the recommended OS is more stable then Windows, and can be used much in the
same way as Windows.

Suggestions, comments, ideas?
