[Ham-Computers] History help

On all of my computers at Internet Options/Internet Options, my History is set to clear in 5 days. My understanding is that after 5 days all the shortcuts to pages I've used within the last 5 days will no longer be available. Is this accurate?

The setting could have easily been 10 days or 3 days or whatever, right?

Therefore, using Windows Explorer and the correct path for the specific OS in use, I should not see pages I accessed more than 5 days ago. Right again?

Now let's talk about Clear History. Selecting that button relegates all my History to be useless, does it not?

Now, with respect to the address bar on a browser such as IE6 should all the URLs there also be governed by the 5-day rule?

If not, what controls how long the URLs on the address bar get to stick around?
