Enough of this...

First someone needs to point out that there are TWO EULAs used when
it comes to WinXP.
The first EULA (which applies to the gentleman trying to sell his
disks), gives the original purchaser the right to sell his copies
(provided that he includes everything that came with them, they are
original copies and not bootlegged to begin with, and he removes all
traces of WinXP from the computer that the disk corresponds to).
Product activation does generate a key based upon hardware
configuration at the time of registration; however, this is not a
steadfast situation. Anyone who has ever did a major upgrade (where
the original computer changes enough that WinXP sees it as a new
computer) knows that. A call Microsoft to confirm all of this.

The second EULA applies to OEM versions of the software where the
WinXP was bundled with a purchased system. Those versions CANNOT be
transfered, sold, etc. They are tied to the original system with
which it came. I.E. you buy a system from Dell that came with WinXP,
you upgrade the OS to a Linux based system (good move!) and you wish
to give your OEM WinXP disk to your friend whom still runs Win98SE.
You can't! OEM versions are stuck with the original computer.
Upgrade your friend to Linux as well hi hi

So sell your CD's if you want. You're legal. Call MS to confirm if
you wish, and they will confirm that for you (with a little
trepidation.. and if you tell them you're moving to Linux.. prepare
for a little sermon).
