if I understand you correctly, you'd like to slow it down from v92 to
something else.

Reaching way back in my memory, I seem to remember there being `command
line' options to specify all sorts of operating parameters, including
connect speed.  They should be usable in whatever terminal program or
dialer you're using.

If you're using Windows, you should be able to go into the modem's
properties and specify an upper limit for connection.  I don't have a
modem in the Win box at work so I can't check right now.

If you want to be a bit more specific, I'll see if I can remember
something like an answer for you :)
