[Ham-Computers] DVD Drive Shortage

Rumor has it (semi-substantiated), that some of the computer quickie
marts (a.k.a "Technology Super Stores") have plans to start pushing
the dual layer DVD drives pretty hard. As a result, as you've
noticed, the shelves are becoming bare in terms of the "old fashioned"
DVD writer/re-writer drives. Probably a temporary thing. The local
shops (nearest "super store" is about an hour away from me.. if you
call that local), are doing the same things. The up shot of this is
that places not known for their great deals on computer parts are
beginning to cut the prices on these drives to take advantage of the
dry spell at the comp stores. Check the office stores (Staples had
some pretty decent deals a week or so ago).
