[Ham-Computers] Re Photographing A Lit Christmas Tree

Greetings All, 	
	
Question: 	
	
The camera is a digital Sony Maverick that uses a 3.5 inch diskette instead of a
memory card. It has automatic focus, automatic light sensor (activates the flash
'if' needed) and many other automatic features. Even a blind man can take a
pretty decent photo with this gadget! 	
	
The room is not lit. The Christmas tree is lit. What is the best way to
photograph the lit tree? Let eh flash provide the light? Light up the room, even
though doing so makes the lights that are lit on the tree more difficult to see?
