Thanks to all for the suggestions.  Turns out (no idea why) that opening a 
comma separated file (regardless of extension) from within Windows Explorer 
sometimes produces different (visual) results than opening the viewer (in this 
case they include Notepad, Wordpad and Excel) first and then opening the file.  
And also, for no apparent reason, if you don't like the results, like with our 
Texas weather wait a day and it may change.  :-)
