For "regular" (aka more "standard") backup purposes, I would suggest a
true data backup application rather than a CD/DVD creator such as Nero
or EasyCD Creator. Good examples are Retrospect Backup and Novabackup
(by Novastor). Both these apps are designed specifically for regular
data backups and include a disaster recovery process to bring your
system back to the way it was before the disaster.
Nero or EasyCD is fine for simple backups, but it's a bit of a pain if
you're backing up more than what will fit on one piece of media. Backup
apps allow you to span the data across several pieces of media during
the backup. They also offer compression if you're willing to take the
risk vs the space savings benefit.
And, I would *never* trust any "RW" format optical disk (CD or DVD) for
reasons I've mentioned in the past. Basically, RW media is too unstable
for reliable backup purposes. Even "R" media isn't good for more than a
few years before data error start creeping in. Just food for thought.
If you really do decide to use the "RW" media, *ALWAYS* do a complete
re-format (not a quick format) before reusing the media. Don't even
consider "adding" to an existing session - too many possible issues to
warrant the risk. Just copy the data off the media, compile the "new"
contents (which includes the old data), re-format the media ("full"
format), then write the new compilation.

BTW, not sure why your docs are in Russian. Nero is a German company
and the docs are translated into several languages. It's possible that
the "bundled" version you got was destined for Russia, but made it to VK
land instead (gray or black market).

Subject: [Ham-Computers] Fw: Nero help
Hello all,
With all the problems i have had, i am making more backups. Recently i
purchased some re-writable disks to save on using single use disks.
Running Nero version 5.5.10.30 that came bundled with my drive. I need
to set up the program to be able to add data to the re-writable disk as
well as totally re-write to the disk with more or different data. Is
there a better program to use that Nero that will do the job better or
more reliably. Nero doesn't tell me how to in the doc unless it is in
Russian ?
Can you assist ??
