[Ham-Computers] Desktop problem

Hello again,
It's not my week with this system.
It may help with this and the other problem to mention i am using Win 2000.
I used to have a couple of columns of icons on my desktop but one collum on
the left and the other on the right.
Now for some reason, i booted up one day and now can not separate the
columns of icons.
Each time i move them, the snap back to where they were but in a slightly
different position.
It is easier for me to have the icons i use all the time on the right side
of my screen.
I also have a couple of games like chess and solitaire for a break when
doing things.
Can anyone help with this please.
