It shouldn't matter digital or analog, so long as the monitor will plug 
into your video card.
I would imagine you have a standard video card with a 15 pin plug.
A 17 inch lcd is the same viewable size as a 19 crt, a 19 inch lcd is 
the same viewable size as a 21 inch crt.
So if I was you I would get at least a 17 inch.
But as Duane said you can buy new systems today with the lcd as part of 
the system for a small bit more, or half off.
I recall a deal Dell had not to long ago with a system for something 
like 699 with a 15 inch lcd.
I would definitely make sure you get no smaller than a 17 inch lcd though.
