Download Word Reader from Microsoft. It provides all the facilities of
Word, without being able to edit documents.
Excel Reader is also available.
It is absolutely amazing that you are able to operate a PC.

Subject: [Ham-Computers] Re MS Word Problem?
Hi All,
Here is the situation:
1. I am totally blind. I am using a screen reading program, JFW to be
specific.
2. I received two files in MS Word doc format. I believe it is MS Word 6.0
3. I do not have MS Word, so I am using Word Pad instead.
4. I have all the control characters showing at the top of the page. The
text
below has lost the formating, as if it were in ASCII format. Simply put, One
sentance runs into the next in a continuous string of text. There should be
items listed one by one, not this continuous text.
5. I have tried both Word Pad for Windows 95B and Windows 98A.
6. I am using 800X600 resolution with 256 colors, the normal setting for
screen
reading software. Remember, a blind person does not need graphic resolution
with
lots of colors!
I do not normally have this problem when I open a document, so I am open to
suggestions as to what may be happening here?
Thank you.
Duane Fischer, W8DBF
