I don't know Hotmail, but the X generally indicates it can't find or
display the picture.  Have you turned off graphics or anything else
recently?  Do you always use IE to read your email?  Have you tried a
different browser?  (I use and recommend opera - www.opera.com)  Any
service packs or `fixes' lately?
