I would not think that is a good idea. The monitor alone will be bad as the 
frequency of some of the video signals must be high enough that you would have 
too much degradation. I have something like you are running and I went the 
router route. My ham shack is in the garage and there I have my third computer 
that I use for ham stuff etc.
