[Ham-Computers] Question abt Win 98

Defrag usually hangs when there are corrupt files and/or viruses in the
system, also when other tasks or applications are running in the background.
Read these articles:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;309460

Scandisk can hang if an antivirus program is active, such as McAfee 5.1:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;276443

Usually there is no need to reformat and reinstall. If your hard drive is
virus free but corrupt, followThere are good virus removal tools on the
Symantec (Norton Antivirus) web site. Note: Norton AV and McAfee CAN'T
coexist on the same computer (operating system). If you install one, the
other has to be uninstalled first.

Good luck,

Its shows the defrag running but the screen stays blank and the % running or
completed stays at
0%

says after 10 tries has encounted a problem.

Will have to check that and get back to you on that.
