[Ham-Computers] Re Label Printing For The Blind

Hi All,

Question:

I need a simple, straight forward and dependable program to address business
size envelopes. I would prefer a DOS application, but will use Windows if I
must.

I have a HP laser printer, model 4P. I also have a HP P-1000c, but doing labels
and envelopes with a color printer is not cost effective at all!

I must be able to load an envelope, or sheet of them, and be able to align it
without having to see. I could do this with a 24 pin dot matrix printer, but I
have never done it a laser printer. It does have a paper tray and I think this
lsot on the front means it is for a single sheet feed, although I have never
used it. Perhaps it is not that at all, just a gap above the paper tray?

In any event, close your eyes and see if you can finger out a way that you can
print an envelope correctly without vision. Then explain to me how you did it.

I suppose I could use labels. However, two issues come to mind immediately. Once
again, alignment of the sheet at the outset. Easy with tractor feed, but not
with this printer! Second, getting all of the lines on a single label. They must
have print large enough that it can be easily read.

Additionally, because it will be a sheet of labels, how do I tell which label is
which?

I am open to suggestions here. I need to send QSL cards overseas and
family/friends lose interest when I ask them to do more than a dozen or so.

I may be forced to get out my old Smith Corona electric typewriter and do it
like I used to do. That poor thing has been stored in its case for many years
now, probably have to lubricated and adjusted professionally before I used it. I
wonder if humans still know how to work on a typewriter?
