Paul,
Are you asking about the default font in the Windows OS, or, the default
font in Office apps (such as Word)?
In Windows itself, there are lots of different "places" where fonts can be
changed. For example, the "active title bar", "inactive title bar", "icon
name", "dialog box text", etc. If it's the Windows fonts you want to change
back to default, the easy way is to go to the Displays Control Panel, click
on the "Appearance" tab, and change the Scheme back to "Windows Standard".
This will change the overall Windows "look" back to the defaults.
Also, the monitor "dpi" setting will affect the overall size of fonts. The
"normal" dpi size for Windows is 96dpi, but it can be changed to make the
over all appearance larger or smaller. To change the dpi, goto the Displays
Control Panel, click on "Advanced", and in the "General" tab, change the
font size to "Small fonts". This, again, is the Windows default for this
setting.
All Windows applications expect these two settings to be at default (or
somewhat close). Any changes to the font sizes or dpi will affect how
dialog boxes and Windows are displayed. Ever seen some dialog boxes with
the fonts cut off? This might be due to the dpi set to 120 and the dialog
box is sized for 96dpi fonts - the fonts are too large to fit and are
"chopped".
If you want to change the default font settings in Word, that's a different
process. E-mail me and step you through that.

Subject: [Ham-Computers] OXP & Win98
Greetings to the list.
I've managed to successfully install Office XP Pro, on a machine running
Win 98SE.
After resolving a few minor issues, the only problem I'm running into, is
setting window's "default" font, back to the default size (ie, 10pt, 12
pt, etc.) How do I go about doing this?
